GROUND TRANSPORATION FROM THE AIRPORTTaxicabs: A cab ride costs $24.00 from the airport to the Central Business District (CBD) for one person and $10.00 (per passenger) for three or more passengers. TRAIN TRAVELAmtrak Union Station is located at 1001 Loyola Avenue near the Louisiana Superdome, only one mile from the Radisson Hotel. Three Amtrak lines serve New Orleans; "City of New Orleans" from Chicago through Memphis; "The Cresent" from New York through Atlanta; and the "Sunset Limited" which runs between Orlando, Florida and Los Angeles, California. The Canal Street Ferry is free for pedestrians. The ferry runs 7 days
a week; departs Algiers
GETTING AROUND TOWNA good pair of walking shoes will be your best form of transportation in getting around town. Make sure you also pack an umbrella. As with any large city, at night you are advised to stay on well lit streets and to walk in groups if possible. The Radisson Hotel New Orleans is only a ten minute walk to the French Quarter and a fifteen minute walk to Bourbon Street. The hotel also runs a small shuttle van every hour to the French Quarter.
On Thursday April 4th, bus service will be provided from the Radisson to receptions and events at the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Fine Arts Gallery at Delgado College. The last bus will depart from the New Orleans Museum of Art at 7:30pm to return to the Radisson.
For Saturday April 6th all advance registration conference attendees will be issued a day pass to use for public buses and the St. Charles Street car to get to the Arts District and the Garden District for walking tours and to see demononstrations and exhibitions at the New Orleans Center for Glassworks and Printmaking, as well as the print shops at Loyola and Tulane Universities. This pass will expire at midnight. Saturday you can also take the free Canal Street Ferry with a free shuttle bus from the Algiers Ferry Station to go to Blain Kern's Mardis Gras World.
The closing party for the conference will take place on Saturday night at The Howlin Wolf, 828 South Peters Street. The Howlin Wolf is located near the convention center at the base of Canal Street and not far from the French Quarter. This event is free to conference attendees.
