Information for Students

Concepts of critical thinking, complexity, evidence-based and culturally affirming practice, social and economic justice, and at-risk populations permeate the M.S.S.W. curriculum and field practice is a multi-faceted, vital part of the program. For the advanced standing and full-time programs, the concentration field practicum is scheduled for three full days each week (6 credit hours/336 clock hours per semester) for fall and spring semesters. Advanced Standing students complete 240 hours of field for 3 credits in the summer. For the extended study program, a comparable schedule is determined in conjunction with the coordinator of field services at the respective campus. While the extended study concentration field practicum is more flexible, a schedule is required that conforms to the hours of the agency where the student is placed.
