"Faces from History"
A series of prints by David Ferry
This display presents twenty prints by Ferry that have been computer generated from original photomontage and printed lithographically. The inspiration for the works rests in his constant desire to defile a popular view of England. This material with its history, and related topography, Ferry finds in coffee table type books from the 1950`, to the present. Generally these publications represent a classic stereotypical perspective of the English scene, a scene untarnished by the world of yob culture, home improvement television, and corporate flip chart seminars. With a gentle wit, and absolutely no regard to historical accuracy Ferry deposits his own dose of medicine on some of the historical characters and places that are associated with the foundations and formation of` this England`.

“Proud Survivors: Through Adversity – The Legacy of African Woman”

Beverly Samler and Lisa Van Wyk

The project includes a hand printing awareness campaign that enables the public to get involved; by giving the project a print of their hand and a signature, the individual is declaring their support to help stamp out abuse in South African society. "Proud Survivers" is based on woman’s rights, as the organizers see woman as survivors rather than victims. The exhibition consists of five large panels in the form of a large-scale print/collage on fabric, which encompasses several printmaking techniques. There are adjoining panels of the same size; comprising mainly of collaged hand prints and signatures collected on field trips into the community.

"Cultural Transport/Moving Targets"
An international exchange portfolio by John Hitchcock and Keith Christensen
This print portfolio (10 x 8 inches) will be presented on September 7, 2005 on the train from Berlin to Poznan. The project addresses issues of public transportation, crossing borders, and national identity. Paulo Friere wrote that people have to first identify their oppressors and then act accordingly in order to achieve liberation. Hitchcock and Christensen extend this by calling for international artists to react to the obstacles of our shared international societies and make prints accordingly. They encourage artists to express alternative and transgressive views within the possibilities of this framework. All conference delegates are invited to participate in this project.

“For Rites of Exchange”
Project by Savage
The ethos of rites of exchange is simple - to generate work that will either affect, maintain or improve our surroundings by means of sleight artistic intervention. Working with this principle, Savage will travel to Berlin, Poznan, and along the distance between, armed with a book of 1,000 specifically designed printed receipts. It is the intention to directly exchange receipts with people at the conference in Berlin and later in Poznan. On arrival at the conference and dressed in suiting befitting a purveyor of receipts, I will seek to exchange each receipt for whatever I am offered by delegates, speakers and the public. Each item I may be offered, whether it be physical, verbal, ephemeral or intangible will be documented and catalogued. The person who gave the item in question will be given a catalogued and individually numbered printed receipt with a detailed record of their transaction.
