Dr. Dasgupta is currently working on development of surface response model for plasma-facing components in fusion reactor (ITER). He is part of large group working on the different aspects of the plasma-facing materials in fusion reactor - a SciDAC project sponsored by the US Department of Energy. He is also a part of the Oak Ridge National Lab's Fusion Materials Modeling-Experiment Coupling Initiative team.
Dr. Dwaipayan Dasgupta received his B. Engg. degree in Chemical Engineering in 2006 from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. He received M. Tech. degree in Chemical Engineering in 2008 from IIT Bombay. Dr. Dasgupta received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2016. He joined the Department of Nuclear Engineering at University of Tennessee Knoxville as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in May 2016. Dr. Dasgupta is a theoretical Material Scientist with special research interests in materials for optoelectronic or nano-electronic applications, and material behavior under extreme environmental conditions. He has also worked for 18 months as a Graduate Research Scholar in IIT Bombay (2009-10) on two projects - Designing control strategy for boiler in nuclear power plant (sponsored by BARC, India) and Developing model predictive control strategy for an industrial scale polymerization unit (sponsored by Honeywell, Bangalore, India).
