What Students Say

"My interests in this field range from the social construction of sexuality and gender, psychology, race/ethnicity issues, and many other areas. This term I have experienced for the first time a feeling of belonging in an academic setting."

"I’m inspired by the self analysis inherent in women’s studies, because I need to know more about who I am. I’m taking a ws-466 class and doing a research project on Emma Goldman’s critique of woman’s suffrage. I’m interested!"

"I first chose a Women’s Studies course to fulfill a college requirement. The 210 class really opened my eyes to a whole world of thought related to feminist thought and theory. I continued to take women’s studies classes, because they were like nothing I had ever taken. These classes widened my critical thinking and introduced me to information never before provided."

"I am hoping to continue my education past undergraduate, and whether or not I pursue women’s studies; these classes have been beneficial to me by giving me a voice in my opinions. Also, learning women’s histories and experiences is something that has become invaluable to me. I feel as though women’s studies has allowed me to understand women’s experiences as well as get in touch with my own individual history and experiences."
