  • The Association of College and Research Libraries Women's Studies Section
    This is a meta-site that provides links to museums dedicated to art by women, links to educational institutions and publications dedicated to women artists, and links to organizations and collectives of women artists.

  • Bluestockings Bookstore
    Website of Bluestockings Bookstore, an independent women's bookstore and cafe of New York City's Lower East Side, an organization that "promotes the empowerment of women through words, art and activism."  Contains images of art featured in their art gallery.

  • A Celebration of Women Writers
    An extremely cool site that allows you to search for a given woman writer and presents you with a listing of any and all Web sites devoted to her. Large and comprehensive.

  • Distinguished Women of the Past and Present
    Provides links to biographical sketches of, images of works of art by, and critical essays about women artists. Over 90 women artists are represented, almost all artists of the Western world.

  • The National Museum of Women in the Arts
    The website for the only museum in the world dedicated exclusively to recognizing the contributions of women artists. You can take a virtual tour of the museum or link to publications sponsored by the museum.

  • The Women Artists Bookstore
    Provides titles and descriptions of books regarding women and art. This site also allows you to purchase the titles through Barnes & Noble.

  • Women Film Pioneers Project
    "The Pioneers project began as a collaborative effort to advance research on the accomplishments and history of women filmmakers from the early years of cinema through to the coming of sound. The original emphasis was on directors, writers, and producers. Recently, the project has expanded to include editors, exhibitors, publicists, and others working in the early years." Links to a comprehensive list of women film pioneers and to pertinent bibliographies.

  • Women in Art at mystudios.com
    Provides links to biographical sketches and images of works of art by over 30 women artists. Most represented are artists of the Western world.

  • Women Make Movies
    "Women Make Movies is a multicultural, multiracial, non-profit media arts organization which facilitates the production, promotion, distribution and exhibition of independent films and videotapes by and about women."  They are the leading distributor of women's films and videotapes in North America.  You can request a copy of their catalog, containing over 500 films by and about women via there website, or use their links to find information on feminist film criticism, bibliographies, filmographies and other topics.

  • Women's Early Art, Music, Poetry
    This site provides lots of links. There are links to essays on women artists, musicians and poets.  Especially interesting topics are women illustrators, early women's spiritual art, and early art, music and poetry of Eastern women.

  • The Women's Review of Books
    Provides an online, excerpted version of their monthly publication which is dedicated to reviewing the latest books by and about women.  A prime source of feminist comment and criticism on women's literary art.  Also provides academic and other job postings, poetry, interviews, letters and "an invaluable list of new books."

  • Women's Studies Database Reading Room
    Hosted by the Women's Studies Department at the University of Maryland. Provides full-text, printable documents including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and academic articles by female writers.  An excellent source.
