IS 560: Developing and Managing Collections

This course is taught every Fall and Spring, plus every other summer. [Next in 2003]. It is designed for those who will develop institutional collections of any material in any format. There are no prerequisites, although completion of IS 530 is helpful.

The student is required to complete a large collection development exercise in either a local information agency or local agency with need for collection. This may be done with partner if you wish. There are also two problem essays and a final examination.

All lecture notes are available on the teacher's WWW site. Some of these will be revised somewhat in the new academic year.
