The purpose of this page is to make available news about progress in SPAIG initiatives. I will be updating this page from time to time as people send me material regarding progress they are aware of.

• One of the first SPAIG results was to lead in stimulating greater interest in internships. You can find a good list of possible openings at the ASA WWW site here.
  
  
• SPAIG conducted a salary survey to understand salaries for those in Business, Industry and government.

• Dean Isaacson reports on a variety of initiatives at Iowa State University - the Shell Industrial Seminar, an NSF GOALI grant involving joint academic/industrial work with General Motors, creation of a distance MS program in statistics with General Motors, and Jay Briedt spending fall semester of 1998 as an ASA/NSF Senior Research Fellow at the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Census Bureau
  
  
• John Spurrier has collected a list of statisticians in Business, Industry and Government who are willing to consider serving on review teams or advisory boards for academic departments of statistics
