The facilities
provided to the University of Tennessee lacrosse team are top
notch compared to any lacrosse team in the SouthEastern Lacrosse
Conference.
The Intramural
Field is a regulation size game field in impecable condition year
round with its padded synthetic turf surface that gives a consistent
playing surface in almost any condition. The field also has lights
for night games, which allows for an extremely versatile schedule.
The field is provided by the very generous Intramurals Department
of Tennessee RecSports and is located on campus. In the summer
of 2005 the Intramural Field will receive new state of the art
field turf.
While this
regular game and practice field is the most used field, the team
also has access to two well-maintained natural grass fields. These
fields are Fulton Bottoms and the newly acquired, as of April
2004, South Doyle Stadium.
In addition,
the new Tennessee Recreational Complex (T-REC) recently opened
in the Fall of 2003. This state of art facility is one of the
best college Rec Center's in the country. T-Rec has a 16,000 square
foot fitness area for cardiovascular and stength training equipment.
The 140,000 square foot building also holds a 1/7 mile track,
as well as a locker room for the team, several classrooms for
film sessions and team meetings, an extensive medical trainers
office, large equipment room and an administrative suite. The
Tennessee Recreational Complex is conveniently located right next
to the Intramural Field.
The team
also use three other facilities at different times during the
year. The Student Aquatic Center provides the team with another
locker room for use by visiting teams, while the HPER Building
is used and suited with more stength training equipment. The 24,000
square foot Bubble which was newly converted in the Fall of 2003
into a private work out facility is also available for use by
the team for workouts and indoor practices. Each of these three
facilities are located next to the Intramural Field.
