| The University of Tennessee Lacrosse Team
traveled to Atlanta to face the Eagles of Emory University Saturday
the 21st. The weather was sunny and 60 for the game as the Vols
picked up their first road win in convincing fashion. Striking early
and often, the Vols put up 9 of their 15 goals in the first quarter.
The comfortable lead allowed the squad to get a boost in experience
as all the Vols making the trip saw action. This led to goals from
a total of ten different Vols, including the first goals of the
season from Matt Finney, Brian Powers, Jamie Frick, Brad Casacci,
Casey Carraro and Drew Griswold. “It was a good chance to
get guys game experience who have not seen the field much this season,”
said assistant coach Andy Frick after the game. Rich Hohenbrink
played most of the game in the goal for his first time sense switching
from attack. The Vols dominated every category in the books against
a thin Emory team. The game gave the Volunteers a chance to tune
up an offense that will be tested next weekend when the Vols will
host the Illinois Fighting Illini (2/27) and the Florida State Seminoles
(2/29).
