Steve Smith

I came to the sociology program at UT having attained master's degrees in public service administration from DePaul, and on from UT in sports studies.  My growing interests are in the areas of social theory, globalization, the power of sports in society. 

Currently I work as the assistant basketball coach and community relations director for a new professional basketball team here in Knoxville called the Thunderbolts.  While here at UT, I plan to look at how religion, business, and culture blend to make sports what it is in Knoxville.
