Andrew Gunnoe

I received my BA in Political Science from the University of Tennessee in 2002.  In 2005 I completed my MA in Political Science with a minor in Environmental Policy, also from the University of Tennessee.  My research interests include the political economy of natural resources, historical materialism, development, political ecology, monopoly capitalism and financialization, world systems theory, and issues concerning class struggle and imperialism.  Most of my research has sought to explore how the financialization of global capitalism has led to transformations in the global timber industry.  Currently I am working on finishing up my qualifying exams and preparing my dissertation proposal.

In my free time I enjoy hanging out with friends in South Knoxville or, whenever possible, headed downstream in my kayak.  Other hobbies include: listening/playing music, mountain biking, and traveling.

Conference Presentations
