3 & 2 Year Scholarships
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville Army ROTC department has a number of scholarship opportunities for both college-bound students and students already on the UT campus. All scholarships pay tuition and fees as well as provide $600 per year for books and $300 to $400 per month (depending on your year in school, more senior Cadets receiving more pay) tax-free subsistence allowance. To be eligible for a 2 or 3 year scholarship you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Must be at least 17 years old before the scholarship is effective
- Must be under 25 years old on June 30th of the year you expect to graduate from college and be commissioned
- Score a minimum of 920 on the SAT, or 19 ACT
- Have good high school grades
- Participate in leadership, extracurricular and athletic activities (Part-time jobs earn substitute credit)
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Agree to accept a commission as an officer in the Active Army, Army Reserves, or Army National Guard
- Meet physical standards
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
Students receiving scholarships also take Army ROTC electives to meet the educational requirements for the program. Upon completion of both degree and ROTC requirements students are offered a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army.
