December 3, 2007
The UTMA Home tournament was hosted December 1, 2007. The tournament was a huge success. We had around 200 competitors. We were able to run three mats all day and finished the tournament before 5:30. Results will be posted here as soon as they are available. In the meantime you can enjoy a video of a few of the Ippons that were scored in the tournament. Ippons.

November 12, 2007
The UTMA Home tournament will be December 1, 2007. This is our main fundraiser and EVERYONE in the club is expected to participate. If you have not volunteered to work the tournament, please contact Amy ASAP to see what still needs to be covered. EVERYONE is responsible for helping with the setup Friday night and clean up after the tournament on Saturday.

On Saturday September 15, ten members of the UT Martial Arts club completed a 26.2 mile walk. Those participating were Mike Takata, Matt Coleman, Allan Ho, Tobey Cheung, Felix Kim, Herman Grier,Evan Williams, Amy Haurilak-Stuck, Joe Rossini, and Greg Ostermier

Congratulations to Amy Haurilak-Stuck for winning club sports participant of the year and outstanding officer for the 2006-2007 school year.

The TaeKwonDo club competed in a tournament on August 18th. Ashley Dennis and Evan Williams both placed first in poomse and Don Dennis placed second.

Congratulations to Amy Haurilak-Stuck and Evan Williams. They were elected for President and Vice-President for the 2007-2008 term. Other notes of interest from the meeting: Recsports is please with out performance as a club. We have competed more than ever and are up on our community service. We still need to do one more service project before the end of the semester. Please contact Amy if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Due to a conflict with the Memphis Tournament, the Club Meeting has been moved to Monday after the Judo class in Studio 10 of T-Recs.

Mark your calendar. Friday March 30th will be a club meeting. We will elect Club officers for next year at the meeting.

February 23, 2007
The club is ordering warm-ups again. The cost will be $85 a set including the embroidery. Please send Amy your size and the correct spelling of your name and have the money to her before Thursday March 1st if you want a set.

The UT Martial Arts Club will be bringing Valentines to the Elderly on Sunday February 18 at the Farragut Health Care Center. The event is scheduled for 2:00 pm. Contact Ryan Thompson athomp33@utk.edu ASAP if you can make the event or if you have any questions.


Anyone wishing to order Mizuno Gear at the wholesale prices needs to contact Mike Takata with their order no later than Thursday February 15th. If you have questions or need to see a price list, contact Mike. This may be a one time opportunity.

The club is looking into ordering another set of warm-ups. These are the black pants and jackets. If you are interested in purchasing a set, please contact Amy Haurilak-Stuck ASAP

January 31, 2007
There will be a club meeting in T-Recs on Friday February 2nd at 6:00pm. All available club members are asked to attend. Immediatly following the meeting, the club will be assisting with the KISL swim meet. Again all available club members are asked to attend so that we get credit as a club for the service.

January 9, 2007
Official Practice will resume on January 18th following our interest meeting. The interest meeting will be in room 108 of the TREC at 6:00. All practices before then are unofficial. As of January 8th, judo will meet at its regular time. Taekwondo will begin the night of the 16th. More information will be posted on the other arts as soon as we hear from the instructors.

Club Practice will resume the regular schedule starting the week of January 15th following the MLK Holiday.
