Border History

Zeta Tau Alpha is involved in so many activities on campus and in the Knoxville area. Some of these events include Buddy’s Race Against Cancer, Relay for Life, Race for the Cure, and Dance Marathon.

Members of ZTA take a lot of pride with all the work we do to contribute to these organizations. ZTA has been helping to support Buddy’s Race for the past 17 years. Throughout the months leading up to the Race for the Cure, ZTA has collected Yoplait lids around campus, created fundraising events with Ben and Jerry’s and BackYard Burger as well as helping with registration at local malls. Members also participate in Relay for Life and Dance Marathon each spring. During Vol Challenge, Zetas have helped with local organizations including Habitat for Humanity and the Boys and Girls Club. These type of activities are an important way to show that being a member of a Greek organization can be rewarding in so many ways.

On campus, Zeta Tau Alpha participates in All Campus Events such as AllSing, Homecoming, and Carnicus.

Housing:

The UT Panhellenic community does not currently have sorority houses. The Panhellenic Building was built in the 1960s to meet the needs of the chapters such as meetings, formal recruitment, and a place to host events. Also, the chapters are allotted rooms in two residence halls on campus which allows the women to live together and have a place to meet also. Recently, the university has been looking for space so that the NPC organizations can construct new buildings and a plan has already been proposed for the layout of this “Greek Village”. Some chapters have chosen to participate in the university’s plan to build more meeting space but a few chapters, including ZTA have decided to build their own sorority housing. While we still await a final decision on specific location, our national chapter has announced that we will be getting housing funds out of the national housing budget and will therefore not have to raise the funds on our own. This support from our national chapter also means that we know the projected layout and look of the house to be much like this house located at the University of South Carolina.
