| Vicky
Johnson is a native of Greene County, TN and the newest member of
the VPC staff. Both of Vicky’s degrees are in English, a Bachelor
of Arts from Tusculum College and a Master of Arts from East TN
State University.
Vicky has served
in various capacities in Federal TRiO programs since January 1990.
She started her TRiO career as an educational specialist with Educational
Talent Search and eventually ended up as the Assistant Director
of Student Support Services while at Tusculum College. Her next
move was to Douglas-Cherokee Economic Authority in Morristown, TN
where she directed the Educational Opportunity Center.
When asked about
her longevity in TRiO she said, “I am TRiO; I was the first
person on my Mom’s side of the family to earn a college degree.
As well, I grew up knowing that my family had no money so education
was my ticket to a better life.” Vicky claims that her educational
motto is the following: “The Tassel is worth the hassle.”
