Dr. Micheline van Riemsdijk

Micheline van Riemsdijk is interested in questions of belonging and exclusion, especially related to international migration. She is committed to a social justice agenda that investigates the distribution of society's benefits and burdens and the subordination and exclusion of societal groups. She is currently investigating these issues in regard to skilled migration policies in Europe, particularly the politics surrounding the European Blue Card. In Summer 2010, Dr. van Riemsdijk will return to Brussels to investigate the roles of special interest groups in the decision-making process of skilled migration legislation in the European Commission. Dr. van Riemsdijk teaches courses in Cultural Geography, Population and Environment, and graduate courses in Population Geography.
