Dr. C.W. (Bud) Minkel
Bud Minkel's research interests are in economic geography and regional planning, especially applied to Latin America, where he has spent years conducting research and promoting geography. He has directed innumerable master's and doctoral theses, and many of the most important names in Latin American geography received their training under him. Minkel is now Director of the School of Planning. He also served as Dean of the University's Graduate School for 21 years and is President of the United States National Section of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History. Minkel played a central role in resolution of the Peru/Ecuador boundary dispute in 1998 and is currently conducting research on the borderlands of the two countries.
