Joshua Inwood’s research interests center on urban (re)development, processes of racialization, landscape studies, contested notions of identity as well as justice studies. Dr. Inwood’s current research explores the United States’ first ever truth and reconciliation commission held in Greensboro, North Carolina. His research explores the results of this Commission, focusing on the ways grassroots activists address the legacy and memory of violence, and how violence continues to undergird racial exploitation and frame an understanding of difference in North America. Dr. Inwood holds a joint appointment with the Africana Studies Program and teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses focused on Geographic Thought, the experiences of African Americans in North America as well as urban and cultural geography courses.
