Hillel is a foundation for Jewish Life on campuses across the world. There are chapters in over 550 American colleges and universities, where the opportunity to explore and celebrate one's Jewish identity is provided. The Hillel chapter at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, established more than 50 years ago, encourages the small but committed Big Orange Jewish Population to dedicate themselves to Jewish life, education, and Israel, all in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Nationwide, Hillel has had a major global impact on the future of Jewish peoplehood. The Hillel professionals on campus, along with the 70 Jewish Faculty Members at UT encourage students to pursue tzedek (social justice), tikkun olam (repairing the world) Jewish learning, and to support Israel and global Jewish peoplehood. Hillel is committed to excellence, innovation, accountability and results. The Hillel program at the University of Tennessee is funded primarily by the Knoxville Jewish Alliance. Support from the KJA is critical to Jewish life at UTK and in the general community. Donations to our program can be made through the KJA and will be used for direct service to students.
