My name is Grace Okitalunyi and I am a Pre-College Upward Bound (PCUB) program alumnus. I graduated from West High school in 2007 and was a PCUB Bridge Scholar. I am currently a third-year student at the University of Tennessee, majoring in Nursing with a double minor in psychology and French. I hope to go as far as nurse practitioner in my field and possibly settle down overseas in a developing nation when I've achieved my educational goals.
Being in PCUB helped me to decide on my academic and career pathways. The study skills, financial aid information, visits to various college campuses, and help with applying to college were just some of the valuable benefits I received as a participant in PCUB. The program worked for me, so now I'm happy to be able to give back to the program by working part-time for PCUB during the school year. I've also been a Resident Assistant for the past two summers. PCUB is great -- those who are selected as participants really are the lucky ones!
