UT Bands
As a member of one of the concert bands, the marching band or a pep band, you will partipate in an outstanding music performance ensemble while completing your education at a university well-known for its infectious "Volunteer" spirit. Founded in 1869, the band program is recognized for its superior performances in concert and at athletic events around the country in a variety of venues.

The Wind Ensemble, the Symphonic Band and the Concert Band have all performed at conferences of the Music Educators National Conference, the College Band Directors National Association and the American Bandmasters Association, as well as, in major concert halls across the country.
During the fall, the widely acclaimed 300-member "Pride of the Southland" Marching Band performs weekly to home audiences of 108,000 Volunteer fans in Neyland Stadium on the UTK campus. "The Pride" also travesl to many SEC conference football games and is regularly featured on network television. The band has made over 50 bowl appearances and has represented the state of Tennessee at the last eleven presidential inaugurations.
The UT Pep Bands perform regularly at varsity athletic games and alumni events. They travel to both SEC and NCAA tournaments, helping to raise the spirits of the fans cheering the Vols and Lady Vols to victory in their quest for national championships.
