Down Under is part of the Carolyn P. Brown Memorial University Center on the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus. Getting here is easy as 1, 2, 3. If you need any help with directions, call:

Step One: Driving to the University Center

If you are familiar with campus, we are located approximately two blocks northwest of Neyland Stadium at the intersection of Cumberland Avenue and Phillip Fulmer Way. We are directly across Cumberland Avenue from the Law Library. Click here for a campus map.

Step Two: Getting Parked
Down Under guests are encouraged to use the PUBLIC PAY GARAGE attached to the University Center. As soon as you turn down Phillip Fulmer Way look to your right. Once you pass a sign for the "U.T. Book and Supply Store," the next right is the parking garage entrance. If you pass a row of several ATM machines and come to a stop sign at the intersection of Andy Holt Avenue, then you have passed the garage. Please pay attention to maximum vehicle height when entering the garage. The University Center does not manage this garage, so the rates and policies are subject to change.
Through the week (Monday-Friday) the rate to park in the GARAGE is $1 every half hour.
Typically on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) this garage is open free of charge. However, if there is a "major event" on campus such as a football game, men's basketball game, or concert at Thompson-Boling Arena you will have to pay a $10 flat rate to park there. If you are scheduling a group visit, contact amyanderson@utk.edu or 974-1077. Amy will be glad to check parking's event calendar to see if anything is happening on campus that might make parking difficult.

Please DO NOT park in any University student or staff parking lot. You will receive a citation.
Down Under cannot validate parking slips or reimburse for any parking expenses or citations.
Step Three: Getting Into Down Under
If you parked in the garage described above, simply walk back out the same way you drove in, and turn left to walk up the sidewalk.
Access Down Under through any University Center entrance by using the elevator or staircase on the north side of the building (the end nearest Cumberland Avenue). If you enter on the first floor near the UT Bookstore or Rocky Top Cafe (coming from the parking garage), proceed around the hallway toward Smokey's Cafeteria, and you will see the elevator on your right. If you enter on the second floor, the elevator is located near the Sweet Shop and Information Desk.
OR
Enter Down Under directly through the glass door on the northeast corner of the building, (corner nearest the Cumberland Avenue and Phillip Fulmer Way intersection). It is covered by a green awning that reads "Down Under" and leads down two flights of stairs directly into Down Under. There is no elevator access at this entrance.
The rest of the University Center often closes before Down Under, but our northeast entrance is open any time we are open. If you need handicapped access, you may arrange this in advance by calling 974-1077. Or, simply call the Down Under desk when you arrive at 974-3450 and someone will escort you through the University Center to the elevator.
