We are pleased that you are considering transferring to The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

UT Knoxville is the state's most comprehensive university. The 15 colleges and schools at UTK offer more than 270 undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs. Undergraduate degrees are offered in agricultural sciences and natural resources, architecture and planning, business administration, communications, education, engineering, human ecology, arts and sciences, social work, and nursing. Advanced degree programs are available in these colleges and in biomedical sciences, law, library and information science, planning, and veterinary medicine.

The 1,400 men and women who comprise the UTK faculty hold degrees from some of the world's most prestigious universities and institutions. Faculty accomplishments have earned them national and international prominence in their academic fields. The high quality of the faculty is largely responsible for the outstanding academic reputation that The University of Tennessee, Knoxville enjoys.

The University will accept, by transfer, coursework taken as indicated in the tables for the schools listed on the main page. "LD" Credit indicates that UTK does not have an equivalent course or that the individual department at UTK may need additional information in order to evaluate the course. The use of such credit to meet curricular requirements (eg. major requirements, general education requirements, or distribution requirements) must have the approval of the college in which your major program is located. Please see your advisor for more information.

Please note that effective Fall 1985, the official grade point average for any UTK student will be the average computed on the basis of hours and grades earned in UTK courses only. Grades earned in courses taken at other institutions will be recorded on the permanent record at UTK, as will the transfer grade point average, and this information will be used in making admission course placement, and other academic decisions. The transfer grade point average is computed on all transferable courses attempted. Once enrolled, however, the grade point average used in determining continuation standards, graduation requirements, and honors categories for graduation will be a grade point average computed on the basis of hours and grades earned in UT courses only. Effective Fall 1986, transfer credit will be granted only for courses in which a grade of "C" or better was earned, except where an articulation agreement is completed.

Students transferring to UTK should also note that every student is required to earn his/her last 60 hours of credit in a four-year college or university, and his/her last 30 hours of credit at UTK.

For additional information concerning transfer credit evaluation or admission as a transfer student, please contact the Office of Admissions at 865/974-2184 or toll-free within Tennessee, 1-800-221-8657. You can also send e-mail to admissions@utk.edu.
