Prerequisites for all classes: Must be a UT Student with valid UT ID, and have a UT e-mail account.

Technology Survival Skills

The class is for students who have been using a computer and e-mail, but need to become familiar with the specifics of obtaining and using UT accounts, and computing at UT. Actual topic discussion may vary depending on the skill level of the students in attendence. A list of topics can be found at http://web.utk.edu/~training/classes/skills1

Electronic Thesis and Dissertations - Converting to Adobe

This class will show you how to take your thesis or dissertation and convert it to an Adobe PDF file. You will learn how to take your word processing file and distill it so it can be published online. Creating and using headings, a table of conten ts, and a list of tables and figures will be covered using Microsoft Word. More importantly, you will learn how to use the tools in Microsoft Word to make your online publication easily accessible. Additional benefits will be learning about electronic pu blishing and digital libraries. This course is offered in support of the University of Tennessee's Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Program.
