Mathematics Education Concentration
Master of Science in Education
Track 1
This program is designed for individuals who have a background in mathematics
and a desire to examine the processes involved in mathematics education —instruction,
learning and curriculum. The program requires coursework in mathematics,
mathematics education and general education. Opportunities exist within
the program to integrate instructional technology, to further professional
development, and to collaborate with researchers and practitioners.
A flexible program structure was intentionally developed to meet the
needs of individual students. Teaching experience at any level from kindergarten
through college is desirable but not required for admission to the program. Before
completion if this program the applicant must have met requirements for
the Tennessee Teachers Professional Certificate or its equivalent in
Mathematics.
