M.S. Minimum Semester Hour Requirements

Non-Thesis: Minimum 33 semester hours of approved coursework, and satisfactory completion of written and/or oral comprehensive examination. 2/3 of the total hours for the M.S. must be 500 level or above.

Thesis: Minimum 30 semester hours of approved coursework, 6 hours of TPTE 500, and satisfactory completion of written thesis and oral defense of thesis. 2/3 of the total hours for the M.S. must be 500 level or above.

N.B. The Track I master’s degree in FL/ ESL ED is for students who already hold a valid Tennessee teaching license, OR for those preparing to teach on the post-secondary level, OR for those preparing careers which may not require teacher licensure.

All classes must be approved by major advisor.
