Vincent A. Anfara, Jr., Ph.D.
Vincent is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Educational Administration and Supervision program. He received his Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of New Orleans in 1995. Before entering the professorate, he taught for 23 years in both middle and high schools in Louisiana and New Mexico. His research interests focus on middle grades reform, leadership in middle schools, issues related to student achievement, and qualitative research methods. He is the past president of AERA’s Middle Level Education Research Special Interest Group, the chair of the National Middle School Association’s (NMSA) Research Advisory Board, and a research representative to the Tennessee Association of Middle Schools (TAMS). He has authored over 50 journal articles and book chapters and is the author/editor of 7 books. His most recent books include The Encyclopedia of Middle Grades Education (Information Age Publishing, 2005) and Theoretical Frameworks in Qualitative Research (Sage, 2006). He is also the Series Editor of The Handbook of Research in Middle Level Education (Information Age Publishing and National Middle School Association).
