Theresa M. Hopkins, Ph.D.
Theresa Hopkins was a classroom mathematics teacher for 12 years: 8 years at North Junior High School in Decherd, TN and 4 years at Tullahoma High School in Tullahoma , TN. After a move back to Knoxville, Theresa attended UT, intending to finish her Master's Degree in Mathematics Education before returning to the classroom. However, she took a GA position working with interns, and decided teacher education was the field for her and continued at UT pursuing her doctoral degree.
Upon graduation, Theresa took a post-doctoral position in the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education where she teaches and works with the ACCLAIM program. Her research interests include quality professional development, gender issues in mathematics, and the intersection of school locale, SES, and school achievement in mathematics.
