P. Mark Taylor, Ph.D.
Biography
I am a mathematics educator in the College of Education, Health, & Human Sciences at the University of Tennessee.
- I have taught mathematics at a junior high school, high school, community college, and a university.
- I currently teach mathematics methods courses, graduate courses in mathematics education, and supervise the internship experiences of the Holmes model students. (See UT Math Ed page for program details.)
- I sponsor the Council of Teachers of Mathematics
at UT, a student group dedicated to becoming mathematics teachers
K-12.
- My particular research
interests generally revolve around teacher education, including:
- The Professional Habits of Mathematics Teachers - including collegial interaction, participation in professional groups, reading professional journals, and similar habits that lead to professional growth.
- Mathematics teachers' approaches to the challenge of meeting multiple sets of standards.
- Beliefs and practices of mathematics teachers including their views/uses of curricula and technology.
I am the Editor of AMTE Connections, a publication of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators
