Lida Waugh
Lida R. Waugh is an instructor of Art Education at the University
of Tennessee. Ms. Waugh teaches two sections of Art Education 301
(foundations and methods in elementary art education), and supervises
UT interns during their field experience. She also assists in screening
candidates applying to the Art Education certification program.
Lida Waugh holds an MA in Art Education from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign,
and a BFA Art Education from the University of Georgia. Prior to her instructorship
at UT, Ms. Waugh taught Elementary Art Education methods classes, 2-D Design,
and acted as the gallery coordinator for the Department of Art at the State
University of West Georgia, Carrollton, GA. She taught in the public schools,
K-12, as well as developing art activities for after school programs, ceramics
programs, and pre-school/parent-tot programs for the park districts in Champaign-Urbana,
IL and Carrollton, GA. Graduate work at the U of I included student teacher
supervision and evaluation in a Saturday school setting for ages Pre-K adult.
Additional interests and experiences include extensive work with youth and
college age staff in a summer camp venue, costuming for theater productions,
and studio work in textiles and ceramics.
