Jennifer R. Butterworth, Ph.D.

Biography

Jennifer R. Butterworth has directed the LRE for LIFE Project, a professional development and technical assistance project serving middle and east Tennessee educators and families, since its inception as a federally funded grant in 1986. The LRE for LIFE Project's mission is to bridge the gap between educational research and classroom practice as well as to promote and facilitate the merger of general, vocational, and special education into a seamless, unified system of education. Since 1986, the Project has focused its efforts on serving students with diverse needs in inclusive settings, with its roots being students that challenge the system the most. The Project embraces the beliefs that learning can only occur within safe, welcoming, inclusive settings and that best and promising educational practices are good for ALL students. The Project provides a variety of professional development and technical assistance activities to schools depending on the needs of each school.
