Dr. Ernest W. Brewer, Ed.D.
Ernest is a Professor of Educational Administration and Supervision. In addition, he is the Principal Investigator of multiple grants that employ between 35-45 staff members. Dr. Brewer has authored/co-authored over 100 books, book chapters, articles, monographs, and technical reports. Some of his books include Moving to Online: Making the Transition from Traditional Instruction and Communication Strategies (Sage, 2001); Foundations of Workforce Education: Historical, Philosophical, and Theoretical Applications ( Kendall/Hunt Publishers, 2001); Finding Funding: Grantwriting and Project Management (Corwin Press, 2001); Promising Practices (Holcomb Hathaway Publishers, 1999); and Characteristics, Skills, and Strategies of the Ideal Educator ( Pearson Education Publishers, 2000). Serving as Editor of the International Journal of Vocational Education and Training since 1998, Dr. Brewer also served as Editor of the Journal of Educational Opportunity for over 10 years. Dr. Brewer has received such awards as the Excellence in Teaching Award, the Outstanding Service Award from the IVETA, and the Outstanding Faculty Counselor Award from Kappa Delta Pi. His current research interests, which are frequently intertwined, include job satisfaction, occupational stress, and job burnout.
