David Cihak, Ph.D.
David is an Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee in the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education. David works in the Modified and Early Childhood Special Education program and advises students earning a B.A., M.A., and Specialist degree. David recently earned his doctorate in the area of Exception Children from Georgia State University. In Georgia, David assisted in the interpretation and implementation of a State-wide Improvement Project to increase achievement and the amount of time students with disabilities are educated in the Least Restrictive Environment. David has taught several courses pertaining to special education including Applied Behavioral Analysis for Teachers, Strategies for Social and Emotional Behaviors, Individual and Classroom Management, Practicum Program in Multiple and Severe Disabilities, and Professional Internship in Teaching. In addition, he is a reviewer for Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities. David’s research areas include effective instructional strategies for classroom and public community settings, as well as functional behavior analysis and positive behavioral supports.
