Admission Criteria and Procedures
Admission to Master of Science
- Grade Point Average-undergraduate GPA 2.7 or higher or graduate GPA of at least 3.2
- Teacher Certification-a minimum of one year teaching or other school-related experience (e.g., counselor, school psychologist).
- Student's Goals-goals should be focused on obtaining a position as a teacher leader, principal, or supervisor.
- Leadership Potential-it should be clear that the candidate possesses leadership potential. This is often best demonstrated by previous leadership experiences.
- Recommendations and References-rating forms with recommendations from your current, immediate administrator plus two other present or former employers (principals, supervisors, superintendents, etc.) will be used to identify strengths, weaknesses, and leadership potential.
- Internship Mentoring Agreement-an agreement is required from a school administrator to mentor you during your engagement in the two-year, part-time, in-school internship. This is usually done with the principal of the school where you teach, but other arrangements will be considered if this is not appropriate.
- Candidate Interview-each candidate must successfully complete an applicant interview with an admissions committee consisting of faculty members and local administrators.
