SHOW SAFETY RULES


We want everyone to help us make our shows safe and enjoyable for exhibitors and guests alike.  Your cooperation and compliance with these safety rules is expected at all times.  Please consult with Club officers and directors if you have any questions.
1.  SAFETY OFFICERS 
  • Show safety representatives are all Club officers, directors and members.
2.  RESPONSIBILITY 
  • Foothills Antique Engine and Tractor Association and/or their sponsor(s) will assure sound safety practices for show participants, demonstrators, and visitors on the show site. 
  • All personnel will protect the health and safety of all persons present and minimize environmental contamination. 
  • Any equipment, exhibit / demonstration, device, item, or equipment in support of an exhibit that is in an unsafe condition will be corrected, terminated, or removed from the show site.
3.  CLOTHING 
  • Any worn, torn, frayed, loose clothing, dangling ornament (jewelry), hair, open shoes, dangling or loose shoe laces must be corrected before operating / demonstrating machinery. 
4.  ELECTRICAL 
  • All electrical equipment devices supporting show activities are to be properly sized and in excellent condition. 
5.  FIRE SAFETY 
  • No open burning permitted. 
  • Any exhibit / demonstration using a flammable fuel or substance should have a class A-B-C multipurpose fire extinguisher present. (should replaces must) 
  • All fuels / flammable materials should be contained in UL approved containers. (requires UL listed containers, but not safety cans)
  • Good safe refueling practices are to be followed. 
  • Caution is to be taken with all demonstrations and other show activities prevent brush fires during dry periods.
6.  TRACTORS - ENGINES - MACHINERY 
  • An adequate safety zone is to be maintained for working exhibits and some exhibits. 
  • Only operators and/or persons assisting the demonstrator are permitted inside the operating zone of working exhibits. 
  • Engines, tractors and machinery must have all guards / shields in place, properly installed and in good condition. 
  • Brakes of original design and in excellent working condition is a must. 
  • Exhibits must be free from spilling/leaking flammable and hazardous materials that might cause slipping, environmental damage, or fire hazards.
  • Exhibits must be operated by qualified operators. 
  • Exhibits are to be operated at safe speeds and in first gear according to the surroundings and the congestion of people or size of the crowd. (Most areas - walking speed) 
  • Towed machinery (vehicles, wagons, etc.) will be attached properly with approved hitches, couplings, chains, and pins with locks. 
  • Any working exhibits with turning shafts, pulleys, sheaves, wheels, fly wheels, cutting blades (flat, vertical, horizontal, reciprocating) moving in any direction, plows, harrows, cultivating, harvesting, conditioning, engine driven devices such as pump jacks, and anything driven shall have devices in place to protect operators and visitors. 
  • All mounted implements on tractors, when stopped, must have the implement lowered and resting on the ground.  Exception – parts such as sickle bar mowers which would present a tripping hazard may be locked in a raised position.
  • Any item (manufactured part or added part) of any configuration, sharp or dull, protruding from exhibit shall be eliminated. 
  • All components of an exhibit under pressure (pressurized), hydraulic systems, tires, etc. must be in excellent working condition. 
  • No operating equipment will be left unattended. 
  • Riding extra people on tractors is discouraged and is the responsibility of the tractor owner. 
7.  FOOD SAFETY
  • Any food prepared and/or served must be handled according to food safety guidelines published by the Cooperative Extension Service and State Department of Health.
8.  ABSOLUTELY NO CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS!
