Third UiO-MSU-ORNL-UT School on Topics in Nuclear Physics:
The computational quantum many-body problem

Joint Institute for Heavy Ion Research, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
January 23-27, 2012

This winter school will focus on nuclear physics with a particular emphasis on computational aspects of the quantum many-body problem. The targeted audience consists of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers early in their careers.

This winter school is part of a series of schools sponsored by the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education, Michigan State University (MSU), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), the University of Tennessee (UT), and University of Oslo (UiO). It is also a TALENT activity. The first school was held from January 3-7, 2010 in Gålå/Norway, and the second school at MSU from January 3-7, 2011.

Lecturer
Scott Bogner
Robert Harrison
Raph Hix

An additional set of short lectures will be given by local experts, and a tour of the computer Jaguar and the EVEREST visualization facility is planned.

Registration
The organizers encourage interested students to apply early as only a limited number can be accepted. The registration deadline is December 3, 2011. Financial support is expected to be limited to students from UiO, MSU, and UT. Breakfasts and lunches will be provided to all participants. Students interested in participating in this school should send an email to Anne Gladman (gladmanam.AT.ornl.gov) and provide the following information:
