Hello, my name is Timothy Kempf, and I design the Internet.

I’m a graphic design student from the University of Tennessee, proficient with various web technologies (such as XHTML, CSS, and PHP), user interface design, and typography. I love designing websites to meet the needs of the user, while trying to make things as simple and clear as possible. Below are some of my selected works.

Moral Fortitude Department Claxtech Mystery

A game developed in concert with David Czyz and Christian Cox, the M.F.D.C.M. is an interactive mystery game. Humorous in nature, this game explores the dark underbelly of Claxtech's Klax Kids division. The M.F.D.C.M. allowed me to use many interesting CSS, javascript, and video embedding techniques that I hadn't explored before.

Mary LaRue Wells

Mary LaRue Wells is a fine artist with surrealist inspiration. I worked with her to create a presence on the internet to display and sell her works. I used a simple, reserved design with muted colors to bring her art to the forefront.

Mashups Micro-site

The mashups micro-site is a small webpage dedicated to defining and explaining mashups, through imagery, diagrams, and examples. When designing this I wanted to focus on information and legibility. Each section is separated into a specific color, and each element is given plenty of space.

Salem Academy

Salem Academy is a new daycare service in Murfreesboro, Tennessee which embraces the Internet as a tool. I helped develop a dynamic system for news and calendar updates, while keeping the design simple and fresh, with a touch of youthful play.

HELO Online

HELO Online is an Internet marketing firm based in Knoxville, Tennessee. I worked as part of the team that developed the site, concentrating on design and markup.

Insurgency Mod

The Insurgency Mod was a multiplayer game modification for the popular video game, Half-Life 2. I assisted the development team with the design of their bulletin board over time. I used a strong image to give the header emphasis, pulling colors from that image to inform the rest of the design.
