University of Tennessee-Knoxville Chapter
Meeting on April 22 at 5pm. It is at the UT Law School in room 241. Everybody is encouraged to attend.

During the 1960s, students began to take more of an active role in their government. Soon there after a political science professor at the University of Tennessee, Dr. Douglas Carlisle presented the idea of an intercollegiate state general assembly to universities around the state of Tennessee. With the help of students like Phillip Moffit, of the University of Tennessee, and Charles Bone, of Vanderbilt University, the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature has provided thousands of students with the education about the inter workings of the state legislature and the opportunity to express their opinions on state issues.
As President of the University of Tennessee chapter, I would like to welcome you. Here at the University of Tennessee, our delegation strives to up hold the values and integrity that people like Dr. Carlisle tried to install in this organization. I would like to encourage all of you who are interested in any level of politics to consider joining our chapter, to ensure that the University of Tennessee remains a key player in both educating the future leaders of tomorrow as well as expressing the joys and concerns of students through out the great state of Tennessee.
Jonathan C. Leonard
