Approval Sheets: Find out about approval sheets and download a click-and-type template.

Title Page: This example shows what information should be on your title page and where; this webpage tells you more.

Formatting Checklist: Get a formatting checklist to help you format your ETD to UTK Graduate School guidelines. (But be aware that while the checklist does cover MOST of the guidelines, it is not meant to cover all.)

Attachments: If you are thinking about submitting supplemental files in addition to your ETD, see Attachment Instructions.

Deadline Dates: Keep aware of important thesis/dissertation submission deadlines.

Compliance: If you plan to use human participants in your thesis or dissertation research, be sure you comply with UTK human subject regulations before you contact any potential participants. Speak with your Departmental Review Committee Chair or faculty advisor about your project to help determine the correct form to use. Visit Office of Research Compliances website to find current forms and guidelines.

Writing Center: The Writing Center can't help you write or edit your ETD. But they can refer you to freelance editors.

Copyright

You have automatic copyright of your document. Copyright Information from UT Libraries

Copyright basics from The U.S. Copyright Office.

Creative Commons: The Creative Commons copyright licenses and tools forge a balance inside the traditional “all rights reserved” setting that copyright law creates. Our tools give everyone from individual creators to large companies and institutions a simple, standardized way to grant copyright permissions to their creative work. The combination of our tools and our users is a vast and growing digital commons, a pool of content that can be copied, distributed, edited, remixed, and built upon, all within the boundaries of copyright law. Find out more about Creative Commons licensing.

Fair Use: Using someone else's work in your thesis or dissertation? Find out how to determine if your use of another's work in your ETD qualifies as fair use.

Open Access: The Pendergrass Agricultural and Veterinary Medicine Library also has very good information on Copyright & Open Access Publishing.

OIT OIT offers workshops on using Word to write your ETD and converting your ETD to PDF. A must-attend for those students who want to learn more about what Word can do for them.

Research Computing Support: Part of OIT, Research Computing Support helps students, faculty and staff choose the best way to acquire and analyze data.
