The "Multisensor Data Fusion Laboratory" features real-time simulation capabilities of forest products manufacturing. The lab is used to develop and test wireless thickness measurement, real-time NIR spectroscopy sensing and process modeling in the context of programmable logic controllers (PLC) interfaces. Real-time process modeling of wood products physical properties using genetic algorithms with real-time NIR spectroscopy sensing is a current research focus of the lab.
