Technology Advisory Board (TAB)
Minutes of Meeting, October 18, 2006

Location: Andy Holt Tower, 4th Floor Conference Room , 2:30PM

Attendance: Brice Bible, Jean Derco, Denise Haley, Robert Holub, Judy Huddleston, Ashley Jarrell, Tim Kresse, Bryant Mayne, Mike McNeil, Robert Osborne, Grant Patterson, Stan Pinkleton, David Ratledge, Brandon Williams


The meeting was called to order and Brice Bible welcomed everyone to the meeting.


CTRAX

Ashley Jarrell was invited to the meeting to speak to the group about the new music subscription service, CTRAX, which is now available to UT faculty, staff & students. The service is free to students this year while faculty & staff pay a monthly fee. Currently there are 1503 students registered to use the service which includes students using the service that are enrolled in the “Study of Jazz” class. No Technology Fee funds are involved in this service.


IT Survey

OIT is putting together an IT Services Survey that will be sent to all students. Topics will include current services such as email, Blackboard, communication paths, etc., as well as potential services. Bryant Mayne volunteered to be a part of the survey team.


Departmental Awards

Brice Bible discussed the criteria for the submission of departmental proposals for FY08 Technology Fee awards. Criteria for the awards are listed on the website at http://web.utk.edu/~techfee/guidelines.html. He reminded the group that the TAB will review the proposed awards at the January 17th meeting.

Tmail

OIT is currently working with the Student Government Association to convert senators to Tmail. Further conversions will continue as issues with overloading the system are resolved.


With no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting of the Technology Advisory Board is scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at 2:30 PM, AHT, 4th floor Conference Room.
