Article I | |
Name of Organization | |
The name of the organization is the Tennessee Association for the Study of Music Culture or TASMC. |
|
Article II | |
Purpose | |
The purpose of TASMC is to provide a forum for the discussion of various topics concerning music culture and to promote awareness of cultural and musical events in the community. |
|
Article III | |
Membership | |
Membership in TASMC will be open to all students, and faculty/staff members where appropriate, regardless of race, gender, disability, religion, or national origin. |

Section II: Officer Duties |
|
1. Executive Panel - The executive panel consists of three members of TASMC. The panel is responsible for organizing all TASMC activities to include meetings and programs. The panel also assists the treasurer in organizing fund raising events. |
|
2. Treasurer - The treasurer is responsible for organizing fund raising projects to assist with travel expenses and events hosted by TASMC. The treasurer works closely with the executive panel in planning and presenting budgets and proposals for events. In addition to fundraising, the treasurer is responsible for filing for funding through UT and investigating other sources of funding for group projects and trips. |

3. Secretary - The secretary will be responsible for recording and distributing the discussion during meetings. The secretary will also take responsibility for any correspondence needed in organizing any event attended by or hosted by TASMC. The secretary is also responsible for updating the standard operating procedures manual for TASMC and sharing historian duties with other members. |

Section III: Officer Qualifications |
|
Any elected officer must be either a full-time student in good standing or an employee or staff member at the University of Tennessee. Any student officer must be in good academic standing at the time of election or appointment and throughout the entire term of office. A student will be ineligible for office if on disciplinary probation for violating any of the Student Standards of Conduct. |

Article V |

Term of Office |
|
Officers will be elected by majority vote at the last meeting of the spring term. New officers will take office at the first meeting of the fall term and will hold office for one year. |
|
Article VI |
|
Frequency of Meetings |
|
Weekly meetings will be held throughout the fall and spring terms. The date of the first meeting of the term will be voted on at the last meeting of the previous term. The night of the meetings for the remainder of the semester will be voted on at the first meeting. Once a semester, the organization will host a symposium, open to the public, in which members may present projects and papers. A second symposium will be held each semester featuring a guest lecturer from outside the organization. |

Financial Statement |
|
There will be no required dues for membership. The type of fund raising needed for any activities will be determined on an event by event basis. In the event that the group should ever dissolve, all remaining funds will be donated to the International House. |

Article VIII |
|
Advisor |
|
TASCM will have one advisor who must be a full time faculty or staff member at UT. The advisor will be elected by majority vote of the members. The advisor will have the responsibility to verify through the Office of Student Conduct that the current officers are in good academic standing and are not on disciplinary probation. The advisor may serve indefinitely provided no member requests reelection and the majority of members are in agreement. If the current advisor wishes to step down, a new advisor will be elected and installed within one month based on majority vote and the consent of the nominee. |

Article IX |

Amending the Constitution |
|
Amendment of the Constitution can occur with simple majority vote providing that the requirements set forth by the Advisory Committee on Student Organizations remain in the Constitution.
