The Social Science Research Institute
is located at Suite 209 Conference Center Building. SSRI's
2,000 square feet of office space is divided into a telephone bank room; a
large work/meeting room; and five offices dedicated either to staff or
long-term projects.
SSRI utilizes the Ci3
Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) System, one of the most
powerful and flexible CATI systems available. The telephone bank consists
of twenty-two computer stations, which are brought together as a local area
network powered by a Dell PowerEdge 2300 Base
server, with a 350 Megahertz processor and a 27.5 Gigahertz hard drive.
Several free-standing office computers are also linked to the server.
SSRI also maintains a CAPI
(Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing) system for conducting extensive face-to-face
interviews in the field.
