Space-time paths represented in GIS
Welcome to the web site of our research project: Towards a GIS-based Analytical Time-geographic Framework with Physical and Virtual Activities. This project is sponsored by the U.S. National Science Foundation (Grant No. 0616724) for a two-year period starting from August 1, 2006. Our research team includes researchers from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Oklahoma State University. The major goal of this project is to extend Hägerstrand’s time geography such that it can provide a comprehensive framework of representing and modeling both physical and virtual activities as well as the interactions between them. In addition, this research will design a space-time geographic information system (GIS) to implement the extended time-geographic framework. This web site is created and maintained by the research team to disseminate and share research results and other information related to the project. We welcome your comments and suggestions by contacting us at the email addresses provided below.
