The Cinderella story is one of the oldest and best known of all fairy tales. Versions of this story can be found on all of the seven continents, with over five hundred versions in Europe alone (Leach 1949, 233).
This site will present and annotate one of the most familiar versions of Cinderella--that of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm--and compare it to two of the oldest known versions of the tale from China and Egypt.
