Facts about Greek Life
The University of Tennessee is not only home to many championship athletic teams, but it is also home to one of the strongest Panhellenic Communities in the country. From the high caliber of our students, to the quality of our programs, we are proud of all that we represent at the University of Tennessee.
Panhellenic is an organization that represents all 17 sororities at UT. We host a variety of programs throughout the year where women from all chapters have a chance to work together and build relationships.
Each chapter at Tennessee is strong in their own right. All of our chapters receive national awards from their national organizations each year on a wide variety of accomplishments. Collectively as a Panhellenic community, we are able to achieve even more.
Last year alone we raised over $130,000.00 for charities in and around the Knoxville community. More significantly, over 3000 service hours were contributed to Panhellenic activities with the Boys and Girls Clubs, and other charities. In addition, clothing drives, can food drives, school supplies and personal items are collected and given to charities each year. These activities caught the attention of the University and Panhellenic received a Chancellor's Citation for Extraordinary Community Service.
We were also recognized at the Southeastern Panhellenic Conference that represents schools across the entire southeastern region of the country. We have received awards for Outstanding Community Service, Outstanding New Member Education Programs, Outstanding Membership Recruitment Programs, Outstanding Women's Programming, Outstanding Leadership Programs, and Outstanding Publications.
Probably the greatest point of distinction is derived from the members themselves. Our members pride themselves in representing over 75% of campus leadership. Our members are involved in a wide variety of student organizations and upon graduation enter into a wide variety of careers. Our Advisor often says, "They are simply good people."
