Sigma Nu Grows Nationally

Sigma Nu fraternity continues to serve as a national leader among fraternities. In the past two years the number of new men pledging Sigma Nu grew by 2% in 2007 and by 5% in 2008. During this period, Sigma Nu pledged just under 6,000 new candidates. Sigma Nu has over 180 active chapters and colonies and over 219,000 members nationally. Currently, of the 72 Greek organizations that are members of the North America Interfraternity Conference, Sigma Nu continues to be in the Top 10 in all ranking categories.

IFC Officers Selected

At the end of fall semester the Inter-Fraternity Council selects new officers. The 2011 IFC has three brothers playing active roles in the new year. Mason McGlamery is the new IFC President, Hughes Miller is the Chaplain and Todd Bateman is Intramural Director.

Ignite, LeaderShape and Freshmen Council

During the 2010-2011 academic year three new Sigma Nu's were selected to participate in campus leadership organizations. Robert Stow and Matt Kyker were selected to be a member of the 40 person Freshmen Council. Freshmen Council is the first year student's branch of SGA. Sigma Nu was one of only two fraternities to be represented by two brothers. Parker Loy and Matt Kyker were selected as Ignite Team Leaders for the two Ignite Summits during summer 2011. They will join 24 other TLs in leading freshmen students during the three day summit. At the end of the school year, Matt Kyker joined other student leaders for the first annual LeaderShape institute held at Coker Creek Village Retreat Center. LeaderShape is a five day national leadership institute.

Sigma Nu Enjoys Full Calendar of Sorority Events

This past year Sigma Nu enjoyed a full calendar of mixers and date parties. The chapter enjoyed mixers with Kappa Kappa Gamma, Alpha Delta Pi, Delta Zeta and Alpha Chi Omega this year. Each mixer has its own unique theme such as---Dazed & Confused, Revenge of the Nerds, Redneck Ball and Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams. In addition, the chapter supports each sorority on campus by participating in their annual philanthropy events. This year the chapter won the Kappa Delta War of the Wings competition, in which the brothers cook hundreds of chicken wings for event, placed second in the Delta Zeta Skeet shooting competition, supported the Kappa Delta golf classic and the Delta Gamma Splash Jam.
