Freshman Council
Freshman Council is comprised of 40 members of the entering class at the University of Tennessee. The group works on legislative issues concerning the freshman class, as well as planning and participating in various philanthropic and social events throughout the year.
Get Involved with Freshman Council
Applications are available each summer on the online applications page. To be a member of Freshman Council, a student must meet the following criteria:
- Be a first time freshman
- Be a full time student at the University of Tennessee
- Maintain good academic standing
Application deadlines for Freshman Council are set in the fall. Twenty females and twenty males are selected for Freshman Council through an application and two-round interview process. The Vice President of SGA selects a committee to review the applications and conduct personal interviews. All applicants are granted an interview which will be done by members of the previous year's Freshman Council and/or by appointees of the Student Body Vice President. At the conclusion of the selection process, all applicants will be notified of their standing.
