Message from the Research Council Chair

The Research Council is a standing committee of the Faculty Senate intended to promote and support the research mission of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, especially the varied research activities and creative achievements of its faculty.

Our primary goal is to facilitate communication between those doing research, and those who guide, fund, and administer it. We act as an advisory body to the Vice Chancellor for Research and Engagement, Taylor Eighmy, and coordinate certain activities with the Office of Research and Engagement.

This is a time of many new challenges and opportunities as we reach toward the University’s Top 25 goals, and research and creative achievement play a critical role in those aspirations. From laboratory discoveries to art installations, from publications to performances, UTK faculty members are deeply involved in a rich variety of research endeavors. The Research Council invites the input and participation of all those interested in advancing the research mission of the University. We look forward to hearing your suggestions.
